Herbert Thomas Dicksee (18621942) was an English painter and printmaker famous for his highly detailed canine and wildlife subjects, usually produced via copperplate etching published by Frost & Reed.

Etchings were created by drawing through an acid-resistant ground on a copper or zinc plate, dipping the plate in acid to bite lines into the metal, and then hand-inking the plate for printing on heavy rag paper using a rolling press.

Authentic period etchings feature a distinct indented plate mark around the image border, fine clear line work under magnification, and often an original artist signature in pencil in the lower margin.

Frame monochrome prints in traditional dark oak or minimalist black mouldings to complement both traditional timber-panelled studies and modern gallery walls.

Keep works on paper framed behind UV-protective glass with acid-free mounting materials, and store them away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
