French antique (ca. 1905) Art Nouveau bronze bust of Cinderella (Cendrillon) by Emmanuel Villanis (1858-1914), modelled as a beautiful young woman wearing a loosely draped blouse and gazing downwards, standing on a castellated shaped square base. Signed on the shoulder. Ca. 32cm high x 17.5cm wide x 12cm deep, weight 3.4kg
 
Superb condition.
 
Cinderella is a chamber comic opera by Pauline Viardot, and is based on the folk tale of the same name. The work has a cast of seven with piano orchestration, and was first premiered in Viardot''s Paris salon on 23rd April 1904. Marie (Cendrillon) is the servant in the house of her father, who is a low noble in an alternative reality of France where Royalty still existed in 1904.
