Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This late 19th-century Anatolian Mujur or Kirsehir rug is hand-knotted from wool with a soft, floppy handle. The piece displays a central red field decorated with a stepped medallion, alongside duck egg blue, lime green, and light yellow hues, while geometric floral motifs fill the borders and spandrels. Fringed ends complete the construction. Surface wear is present across the wool pile, with secure selvedges. The rug measures 163 cm high by 112 cm wide and 0.6 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this traditional floor covering fits well on hardwood or stone floors in a living room, study, or bedroom. The patterned borders and vibrant central medallion add warmth and colour to both period and modern interiors.

FAQs

Originating from the central Anatolia region of Turkey, Mujur and Kirsehir rugs are distinguished by their geometric stepped medallions, vibrant wool pile, and stylized floral borders.

These rugs are typically constructed using hand-spun wool for both the pile and foundation, woven with symmetrical double knots and coloured using natural dye extracts.

Authentic pieces exhibit slight colour variations known as abrash, symmetrical hand-knotted construction visible on the underside, and natural wear patterns consistent with age.

A bright Anatolian rug can be layered over natural jute matting, placed under a minimalist coffee table, or positioned in an entryway to provide colour contrast.

Vacuum gently using suction only without a rotating beater bar, rotate regularly to ensure balanced wear, and employ professional specialist cleaners for stain removal.
