Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Emerging in late 18th-century Britain, George III bow-fronted sideboards feature a gently curved front profile designed to optimise space, characterised by mahogany construction, geometric string inlay, drawer storage, and tall tapered legs.

Primary timbers included dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, frequently decorated with boxwood or satinwood stringing, featuring oak or pine secondary drawer linings, and pressed brass oval drop handles.

Authentic pieces display hand-sawn drawer linings, hand-cut dovetail joints, period-correct brass escutcheons, natural shrinkage lines along timber grain, and square tapered legs often terminating in spade feet.

Balance the visual weight of dark mahogany timber by positioning the piece against neutral walls, pairing it with contemporary abstract art mounted above, and adding modern ceramic lamps or minimal glass vessels.

Maintain the polished timber surface by dusting regularly with a microfibre cloth, applying beeswax along the grain once or twice annually, and placing the furniture away from direct heat sources or sunlight.
