An utterly fresh Luminist and Post-Impressionist floral study by the renowned Belgian artist Armand Apol (1879-1950). Known primarily for his atmospheric landscapes, this rare still life demonstrates Apol’s exceptional command of colour and light during the interwar period.
 
The work captures a bouquet of anemones in a rounded ceramic vase, set against an interior. Apol utilizes a bold, Fauvist palette—rich indigos, vibrant magentas, and deep violets—to give the flowers a sense of living energy.
 
Of particular note is the background''s execution. Apol employs elements of Pointillism and ''divisionist'' brushwork in the upper register, creating a shimmering, fractured light that allows the domestic setting—a mantelpiece with a clock and framed art—to feel both tangible and dreamlike.
