Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian pine chests of drawers typically feature a two-over-three drawer layout, turned wooden knobs, and turned bun or bracket feet. Originally produced during the nineteenth century for secondary bedrooms and utility spaces, these pieces prioritise solid pine construction and functional proportions.

Pieces from this period generally feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer lining, solid pine backboards, and hand-turned wooden knobs attached with internal wood threading or screws. Keyhole escutcheons were frequently inset using brass or dark wood inserts.

Authentic nineteenth-century pine chests display hand-planed marks on the back panels, irregular hand-cut dovetails on drawer joints, and natural wear patterns around the handle attachments and drawer runners. Original keyhole lock mechanisms are typically mortised directly into the drawer fronts.

Position the chest against a neutral backdrop alongside contemporary artwork, ceramic lamps, or modern metal accents to create visual contrast. The warmth of natural pine pairs well with linen upholstery, muted colour palettes, and mixed timber tones.

Apply a high-quality clear beeswax polish once or twice a year using a soft cotton cloth to maintain the timber finish. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent wood shrinkage, warping, or cracking.
