Haws watering cans were patented in the late 19th century by John Haws, revolutionising horticulture with their balanced design and removable rose, becoming a staple for professional gardeners and estates by the Edwardian era.

Authentic period pieces were typically hand-soldered from sheet copper or brass, featuring rolled seams, heavy-duty handles, and detachable brass roses designed for fine misting.

Authenticity is usually verified through makers stamps or patent marks on the body or handle, alongside traditional soldered joints, handmade patination, and the characteristic heavyweight gauge of the metal.

Place the piece on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or bookshelf to introduce warm metallic tones and industrial heritage texture into a rustic farmhouse or eclectic interior scheme.

Preserve the natural oxidisation and aged patina by dusting gently with a dry microfibre cloth; avoid harsh chemical polishes unless a bright metallic finish is specifically desired.
