We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Nineteenth-century French commodes typically feature structured proportions, often combining rich veneers with marble tops, reflecting the functional elegance of the period.

These items are constructed using solid timber carcases overlaid with decorative veneers such as walnut, often incorporating hand-cut dovetail joints and marble counter tops.

Authenticity is indicated by traditional construction techniques, hand-carved details, period-appropriate timber shrinkage, and original ironmongery or lock mechanisms.

An antique commode works well as a grounding statement piece in contemporary rooms, contrasting clean modern lines with rich texture and historical depth.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber.
