Description:
This is a fine quality antique English Edwardian Arts & Crafts desk chair, constructed in solid beech, featuring a revolving, reclining and height adjustable mechanism, circa 1910, in excellent condition.
The chair seat has been newly upholstered in top quality full grain green leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The underside of the seat has been re-webbed in the traditional manner. The front and sides of the seat are decorated with a scroll shaped frieze. The chair mechanism has been restored and serviced and is in good working order. The Arts & Crafts desk chair incorporates a mechanism allowing it to rotate 360 degrees and recline backwards. The seat height can be adjusted by turning a ribbed metal screw on the underside of the chair. The office chair sits on four splayed solid beech legs which terminate on its original solid brass castors. Beech wood was a favourite choice of materials for chairs and seating, owing to it strong natural grain characteristics. The chair is extremely comfortable to sit on as it features a lovely padded seat with a high back.

Condition Report:
The chair and mechanism are in excellent working condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair seat has been newly upholstered in top quality full grain sage green leather, which incorporates the traditional brass studwork tacks to the seat perimeter and traditional hessian material to the underside. Therefore, the leather is in excellent new condition, with no wear, fading or damage. The reclining and adjustable height mechanism is in good working order, having just been cleaned and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The chair has been cleaned and French polished, by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop, therefore the polish and patination is of an excellent standard. The chair sits on four splayed solid beech legs which terminate on its original solid brass castors.
