They are in very good condition for their age, with some minor age related wear here and there. The locks are very old and aren’t working, the cabinets come with a key that just serves as a handle to open the drawers.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Traditional Chinese furniture is characterised by minimalist joinery, proportions based on spatial harmony, and often incorporates symbolic motifs carved into dense native hardwoods.

Craftsmen typically utilised dense, heavy hardwoods such as elm, huanghuali, zitan, and ironwood, often accented with traditional brass or copper hardware.

Authenticity is assessed by examining traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, hand-carved details, natural patina, and signs of age such as shrinkage cracks in the wood.

These versatile cabinets can be integrated as striking bedside tables or accent pieces in contemporary spaces, pairing well with neutral walls and minimalist decor to highlight their craftsmanship.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and clean periodically with a soft, dry cloth without applying modern chemical polishes.
