Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating from Sanandaj in Western Iran, Senneh rugs are celebrated for their exceptionally fine knotting, precise geometry, and low pile. Traditional designs frequently feature delicate Herati motifs, boteh repeats, or pale central fields framed by complex multi-stripe borders.

Authentic nineteenth-century Senneh textiles were typically hand-knotted using finely spun wool pile onto a cotton warp and weft foundation. The yarn was coloured using natural plant-based and mineral dyes, resulting in subtle tonal variations known as abrash.

Authentic pieces exhibit a fine, tight weave with asymmetrical knotting visible on the reverse, a flexible handle, and a relatively short, smooth pile. Natural age-related wear, soft patina, and slight colour variation in the vegetable dyes further distinguish original nineteenth-century examples from modern reproductions.

Small matched rug pairs suit symmetrical placement on either side of a bed, framing a hallway threshold, or laid onto polished timber floorboards in an entryway. Their delicate scale allows them to introduce historical texture without overwhelming contemporary spatial proportions.

Preservation requires regular suction-only vacuuming without rotary beater bars to avoid fibre damage. Professional specialist cleaning should be undertaken periodically, and quality underlay pads should be positioned beneath the rugs to prevent slippage and reduce wear.
