This Georgian porcelain armorial crested jug dates from the period between 1795 and 1800 and originates from the Chamberlain Worcester factory. The piece takes a spiral fluted form and wears a glossy white glaze highlighted by vibrant yellow ground bands and intricate gilding. The front displays a central heraldic panel enclosing a hand-painted black and grey lion passant standing upon a red element, positioned directly above a gold monogram. Additional visual details include elaborate gold drapery motifs framing the crest, gilded patterning along the rim, and detailed leaf motifs on the spout. Measuring 17.5 cm high, the jug sits upright on a flat base. In a contemporary home, this decorative vessel functions well on a dining room sideboard top as a display item or holds small floral arrangements for a table centerpiece. The porcelain construction shows a bright reflective finish across the white body, contrasted against the deep yellow panels and metallic gold leaf accents. A professionally restored crack runs down the side of the vessel and extends to the base of the handle.

Chamberlain Worcester porcelain refers to fine ceramics manufactured by the factory established in Worcester, England, by Robert Chamberlain in the late 18th century. The factory became famous for detailed gilding, hand-painted enamelling, and customized armorial services for European aristocracy.

These jugs were crafted from soft-paste or hard-paste porcelain formulations, slip-cast or hand-moulded, and fired before glazing. Artisans then applied hand-painted enamel details, coat-of-arms crests, and burnished leaf gilding before a final low-temperature kiln firing.

Authentic pieces feature light age-related wear on hand-applied gilding, fine spiral fluting or spiralled moulding, and detailed enamel brushwork. While some examples bear incised, painted, or printed factory marks and pattern numbers on the base, many early pieces remain unlabelled.

Display the jug as an accent piece on a sideboard top, mantelpiece, or inside a glass-fronted display cabinet. It can also be repurposed as a floral vase on a dining table or console to add historical contrast to contemporary decor.

Clean delicate porcelain using lukewarm water and a soft microfibre cloth without harsh detergents. Avoid soaking the item or using abrasive sponges, as moisture infiltration and friction can strip original gold leaf and enamel detail.
