Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Antik Dragon Japanese & Other Fine Art

Striking 19thC Italian antique bronze statue of The Dying Gaul (also called ''The Dying Gladiator’) on a marble base. It’s a copy of an Ancient Roman marble statue housed in the Capitoline Museum in Rome (see photo 6), which is itself a copy of a (now lost) sculpture from the Hellenistic period (323-31 BC), thought to have originally been made in bronze. 19.2cm wide x 10.5cm deep (base) x 13cm high, weight 2kg.

Lovely patina and condition. A little gem.
