Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century rustic farmhouse dresser base is constructed from solid pine, finished with a hand-painted soft sage green body and an unpainted natural timber top. The rectangular top rests above a frieze comprising three deep drawers, each fitted with an original brass scallop cup handle. Below, the cabinet is raised on four stout, square-tapering legs, providing a stable foundation. The piece measures 86 cm high, 152 cm wide and 47 cm deep. In a contemporary interior, this item serves well as a practical side table in a hallway, a compact sideboard in a dining room, or a functional console in a living space, offering useful surface area and concealed storage within traditional domestic settings.

FAQs

A dresser base is the lower section of a traditional country kitchen dresser, designed without the upper shelving unit to serve as a low storage sideboard or server.

These pieces were typically crafted from softwoods such as pine or hardwoods like oak, often featuring hand-turned or tapered legs, dovetail drawer joints, and brass or cast iron hardware.

Look for hand-cut dovetail joints inside the drawers, irregular saw marks on the back panels, natural age marks, and signs of historical paint layers or re-finishing on the surface.

Position the piece in a hallway, dining room, or kitchen, layering contemporary artwork or a simple mirror above the natural timber surface to contrast with the painted base.

Dust the painted frame regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a clear beeswax paste to the exposed natural wood top periodically to preserve the grain and protect against moisture.
