Pair of mid 19th century Grand Tour patinated bronze warriors, Romulus and Titus Tatius after Jaques-Louis David’s painting of ‘The Intervention of the Sabine Women’ completed in 1799 and now on permanent display in the Louvre in Paris. These great historical works of art were a must see on the Grand Tour of the 19th century. Presented on their original Sienna marble slab bases. Possibly a matched pair. France, circa 1850.
