A set of three naive, original and amusing lithographs depicting scenes from popular melodrama La grâce de Dieu by Adolphe-Philippe d''Ennery and Gustave Lemoine based on Puget''s most successful song À la grâce de Dieu, which, then, after its first performance in Paris in 1841, was the inspiration for the Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti for the opera Linda di Chamounix.
The success of this melodrama had undoubtedly marked popular memories and lithographs like these can be ascribed to that particular popular art which, since the 16th° century, produced coloured prints intended for the often still illiterate public.
