Antique Edwardian Walnut Marble Top Washstand

1900 - 1920
Description

A neatly proportioned Edwardian antique walnut washstand. The piece features a shaped gallery back with an over-mirror and an attractive grey marble top. It has two drawers to the front, fitted with decorative swan-neck handles on ornate backplates, above a pair of panelled cupboard doors — each with shaped fielded panels — opening to reveal neat storage space within. The washstand stands on slender legs with its original castors. An attractive and clean example.

Condition Report:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places, including age-related marks and scratches consistent with use.

There is evidence of old woodworm on the side (fully treated as a precaution).

The mirror shows foxing, and there is some splitting to the mirror support, neither of which detract from its overall character.
