Bakhtiari rugs are traditional hand-knotted carpets produced by the nomadic and village tribes of the Chahar Mahal region in western Persia, renowned for their durable structures and distinctive botanical designs.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-spun wool piles knotted onto cotton or wool foundations, dyed using natural vegetable colorants derived from plants, roots, and minerals.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the irregularities in hand-knotting, the patina of natural wool fibres, the complexity of the vegetable dyes on the reverse, and traditional tribal motifs.

These textiles add warmth and texture to contemporary spaces, working effectively as anchor pieces in minimalist living rooms or as striking textural contrasts against neutral hardwood flooring.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without the beater bar, professional organic washing when needed, and avoiding direct, prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight to protect the natural dyes.
