Georgian fire tools, produced during the reigns of George I through George IV, are characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and a harmonious combination of polished steel and cast brass elements.

Authentic period firesets were typically forged from high-tensile steel for durability during heavy hearth use, complemented by cast or turned brass handles for decorative contrast.

Maintenance involves applying a microcrystalline wax to steel components to prevent oxidation and gently polishing the brass handles with a dry cloth, avoiding abrasive compounds that damage the historic finish.

Positioning them beside an active fireplace or within a designated hearth stand allows these historic implements to function as both practical fireside utilities and sculptural decorative accents.

Authenticity is determined by hand-forged construction marks, file finish details on the steel shafts, secure peg or threaded brass handle attachments, and appropriate period weight and patination.
