Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Boulle furniture is named after Andre-Charles Boulle, cabinetmaker to King Louis XIV, who perfected the technique of inlaying cut brass into brass, tortoiseshell, or ebonised wood surfaces. The style is recognised for its intricate scrollwork patterns, gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, and dark ebonised frames.

Traditional Boulle furniture utilizes an ebonised hardwood structure decorated with sheet brass and tortoiseshell marquetry. The decorative trim and corner accents consist of cast gilt-bronze or brass mounts, often accompanying glazed glass panels and marble or polished timber tops.

Authentic 19th-century Napoleon III Boulle pieces feature hand-chased gilt-bronze mounts fixed with original steel screws, genuine brass-inlaid tortoiseshell, and hand-cut glass side panels. Natural age, minor lifts in the metal inlay, and subtle oxidisation on the brass work further confirm period origin.

Position a Boulle cabinet as a focal piece against a neutral or rich jewel-toned wall to highlight its brass marquetry. Style the interior shelves with monochromatic ceramics, glassware, or curated art books to balance the historic ornamentation with contemporary simplicity.

Maintain Boulle furniture by keeping it in a climate-controlled environment to prevent brass lifting due to timber movement. Dust surfaces gently with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh liquid cleaners or abrasive polishes that can degrade the ebonised finish or loosen the delicate marquetry.
