Wow! This Ushak is a true delight for the eyes! The design and colour palette are quite magnificent, full of early dyes from the late 19th century with a wide border using a fabulous large leaf design. The gorgeous pale green central motif with flame like golden leaves surrounding it all on an off-white to light grey tone background. The pale blues and greens are a particular highlight and would be wonderful to scheme fabrics with for a room. Please view all the additional images to see the colours up close, but really this carpet needs to be viewed with the naked eye, as it looks better in the flesh so to speak. If you would like to request a home visit or showroom visit we would love to show it to you soon.
Ushak carpets and rugs were woven in the Anatolian highlands south of Istanbul where they used extremely soft wool and using the larger Turkish knot made them weave more open designs than Persian carpets. They are increasingly desirable today due to their sometimes softer p...alette such as this stunning piece, than Persian carpets, thus making them easy to place in a drawing room, bedroom or under a dining table for example.
Farnham Antique Carpets are specialists in antique decorative carpets, rugs and runners. Varying from antique tribal rugs woven in the Caucasus to classical Persian carpets dating from the mid 19th century to the early 20th century.
