Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Victorian painted satinwood furniture often draws inspiration from 18th-century Sheraton and Adam revival designs. Key features include lightweight timber frames, fine hand-painted neoclassical motifs such as cherubs and floral swags, and integrated woven cane panelling.

These bedsteads typically construct the primary frame from dense satinwood veneers over hardwood substrates. Insets feature hand-woven natural cane, while decorative polychrome paints and protective varnishes create the detailed surface artwork.

Pieces produced by Maple & Co frequently feature stamped maker marks or metal brass badges affixed to the timber frame. High-quality joinery, precise hand-painted details, and premium timber selections further distinguish original items from this cabinetmaker.

Positioning the bedstead against neutral or muted wall finishes allows the detailed hand-painted artwork to remain the focal point. Combining the piece with crisp white linen and understated textiles balances historical ornamentation with contemporary aesthetics.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading. Cane panels require controlled humidity levels to avoid drying out or becoming brittle over time.
