This late nineteenth-century French equestrian chromolithograph print depicts a jockey in white silks and a red cap riding a galloping brown racehorse against a plain beige paper background. Created by the equestrian artist Ernest Bodoy and reproduced by A. Legras Paris, the piece showcases rich colours set against a subtle faux bois painted background, alongside Bodoy's signature and the publisher's logo. The composition is mounted in a simple wooden frame and uses the chromolithography technique to maintain saturated hues. The piece measures 46 cm high, 33 cm wide, and 2 cm deep. Suitable for a gentleman's library, this print hangs well above a sideboard to bring traditional sporting character into a home interior. The warm brown and cream tones coordinate with classic decorative schemes, while the dynamic full-extension motion of the horse adds energy to a study or living area.

Equestrian sporting prints gained immense popularity throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly in Britain and France, reflecting the cultural prestige of thoroughbred horse racing and fox hunting.

Prints from this era were typically created using stone lithography, aquatint, or steel engraving techniques on heavy cotton rag paper, often finished with hand-applied watercolour washes.

Authentic prints often display plate marks along the border, publisher inscriptions near the bottom margin, fine paper grain, and natural age-related characteristics such as foxing or subtle toning.

Mount the artwork inside a clean wood or gilt frame and display it alongside dark timber furniture, leather upholstery, or brass accents to create a grounded, classic aesthetic.

Frame the print using acid-free mounting materials and UV-filtering glass, ensuring it is displayed away from direct sunlight and areas with fluctuating humidity.
