A Set of Five Family Silhouettes

A very unusual group of five silhouettes all of the Strachan family and dating to the 1840’s. Three of the silhouettes are painted in black highlighted with white and gold. The two silhouettes of children are completely and beautifully coloured. The group are all by the Hubard Gallery a famous and illustrious provider of silhouettes in the early nineteenth century. The whole set are in excellent condition and in the original bird’s eye maple frames, the three black silhouettes also have the original convex glass. The reverse of the silhouettes also retain a large amount of information regarding the Strachan family of London. It is exceptionally unusual for such a fine quality group of family silhouettes to remain together and as a group they have a huge amount of decorative impact.
