Description

Gents 1950s Alpina wrist watch.

The watch has a 17-jewel calibre 588 hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The calibre 588 was launched in 1955. The movement is protected by an inner cover.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in good condition. The screw-on case back states that the watch is impermeable but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture. It also has the word pare-chocs which refers to the movement’s shockproofing system.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed Alpina, it is in its original finish with original hands and red centre seconds hand. There is light marking to the dial.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
