A 19th century cast iron day bed with bespoke base and mattress. The bed is a beautiful sleigh shape and we believe it to be French, possibly made as a piece of campaign furniture as it comes apart with eight nuts and bolts. It has what appears to be the original paint finish, which is dark green with gold details.This doesn’t really fit in my photography area so apologies for the poor photos!This bed is a very attractive item, with a lovely curvy sleigh shape, and has been used over the last twenty years or so as an occasional bed for visiting grandchildren. The lady we bought it from had the mattress and base made to fit it. It isn’t quite a full size single mattress, but is more than adequate for children (or adults if not too tall). It would also make a lovely piece of furniture for a conservatory or garden room. It breaks down into legs, side/end rails and ends by unfastening eight nuts.
