A Superior, Edwardian Barograph with Additional Aneroid Chapter Ring. In a 5-Glass Mahogany Case. circa 1910.

1900 - 1920
Description

An attractive and very good quality 5-glass barograph with gilded movement.

The gilded chart drum and cover contains the 8 day duration clock movement with its original jewelled, straight line, club toothed, lever platform escapement beating 18,000 times per hour and visible once the protective cover is removed for winding. It also retains its protective 'horns'.

The aneroid chassis, supports, bridges, levers etc. and the chapter bezel are all gold plated solid brass and the well-executed chapter ring (dial) is wax-filled, engraved, with an anodised silver background.

The silver aneroid 'stack' is 8-tiered and the original glass ink bottle and dropper is present.

The polished mahogany case with moulded top and lift-off top cover has a chart drawer to the front of the base and all 5 glass panels are substantially thick with bevelled edges. The base sits upon 4 short block feet.

* There is no doubt that this is a beautiful object and extremely original. Though the pressure can be read from the chart it is much clearer to read from the chapter but is still recorded in ink, on the charts.

Dimensions: 14 1/2" wide x 8 1/2" high x 8 3/4" deep.

Condition: Exceptionally good and original condition. It has been well maintained and is working perfectly. The wooden case is well polished and the glass panels are perfect. The case is sound as are the movements - they are also clean. The almost perfect gold plating in areas has slight 'spotting' and the nib has some ink corrosion. I would not advise any necessary work at this time.

Price: The price carries a full guarantee and a years supply of charts.
