A military campaign chest is a type of modular furniture designed to be easily dismantled and transported by British officers during colonial campaigns in the 18th and 19th centuries.

These chests were typically constructed from durable hardwoods such as mahogany or camphor, featuring flush-mounted brass handles, reinforced brass corners, and often constructed in two or more stackable sections.

Authentic pieces usually exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass hardware with patination, recessed handles to prevent snagging during transport, and hand-turned feet or bracket bases.

The clean lines and functional design of campaign furniture allow it to complement both traditional studies and contemporary living spaces, often serving as a focal point for storage.

Maintain the wood by applying microcrystalline wax periodically, avoid placing the item in direct sunlight or near heat sources to prevent cracking, and clean brass fittings with non-abrasive cloths.
