It is of outstanding quality and is a very useful size. It is perfect for use as a bedside chest, the back and sides are beautifully finished as well, so it can be used as a free standing side table. The rosewood grain patterns are stunning, this has high quality brass hardware. The drawers display wonderful cabinetry with fine, hand cut dovetailed joints.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Campaign furniture was specifically designed for British military officers on active service during the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries, engineered to dismantle or fold easily for transportation.

These items typically utilised durable dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or teak, combined with protective brass corners, straps, and flush-fitting inset handles to withstand rigorous travel.

Authentic pieces feature recessed brass hardware designed to prevent snagging, dovetail joinery, and often split-carcase construction to facilitate modular packing during transport.

Such pieces function well as compact bedside tables or accent storage units in a study, providing a strong focal point that contrasts cleanly against neutral walls.

Rosewood surfaces should be kept out of direct sunlight to prevent fading and treated periodically with traditional beeswax to nourish the grain without sealing the timber.
