Description

A gilt bronze figure of the Buddhist Deity Jnana Dakini, from Tibet, late 19th Century

Expressively cast with the six-armed, three-headed deity brandishing a sword in her uppermost hand with the remaining hands radiating around her holding various attributes, seated atop a lion crouching on a lotus base with gaping mouth and upturned tail, the figure is inset with small turquoise and coral beads and richly detailed.

The figure measures 25 cms high, 19 wide and 10 cms deep.

This is an attractive and collectable piece, in great condition, the bright gilding to the bronze figure nicely rubbed in places.

UK insured packing and delivery is £15.

Jnana Dakini is a female wisdom deity in Himalayan Tantric Buddhism, depicted multi-armed with traditional ritual implements and seated atop a lion throne or lotus base.

These figures were cast using the lost-wax method, after which fire-gilding was applied to coat the copper alloy base with gold, often supplemented with set turquoise and coral cabochons.
