The image shows ''Le Charmeur de Serpent'' (The Snake Charmer), a bronze sculpture by Charles Arthur Bourgeois (1838-1886). It depicts a young African man in a dancing pose, playing a flute. He has feather ornaments and movable earrings.
A snake is at his feet, and he holds a staff.The sculpture is signed ''Artur Bourgeois sculp.''
It is a posthumous, modern cast. Dimensions: 12.50'' height x 5.13'' width x 3.63'' depth.
Other versions exist, varying slightly in size and patina.
