Pastoral and equestrian oil paintings from the period typically focus on rural life, agriculture, and animals in natural landscapes, often characterised by realistic brushwork and earthy palettes.

Authentic period works are typically executed with oil-based pigments applied to stretched woven canvas or wooden panels, often framed in moulded wood or composition frames.

Authenticity is assessed by examining canvas weave, stretcher bar construction, pigment composition, craquelure patterns, and the presence of historical framing or backing materials.

This artwork can be paired with neutral walls and traditional wooden furniture to create a sophisticated focal point, or integrated into an eclectic gallery wall for added textural contrast.

To preserve oil paintings, keep them away from direct sunlight, maintain stable room temperature and humidity levels, and clean the surface gently using professional conservation methods.
