FAQs

Nineteenth-century country furniture typically features practical construction using native timbers, often finished with hand-applied paint or decorative brushwork that has developed a natural patina over time.

These pieces were constructed using solid softwoods or hardwoods like pine and oak, joined with traditional dovetail joints on the drawers and hand-forged iron or brass hardware.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut dovetailing, irregular hand-sawn timber marks, period-appropriate fixings, and natural wear patterns consistent with age and use.

An antique painted piece serves as a functional focal point in a contemporary bedroom or hallway, providing textural contrast and character against neutral modern finishes.

Preserve the surface by avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and dusting gently with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth.
