Description

Gents antique silver trench watch, 1914.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, believed to be by the ebauche (blank movement) manufacturer A Schild, which is working nicely.

The watch measures 33.5mm diameter excluding the onion winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London 1914 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The case is in good condition, just a couple of minor dents to the back, nothing too serious at all.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The dial is in good condition, just one short faint hairline at number 3 but not too noticeable to the naked eye. Pin-set blued steel hands.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
