Description

Antique Persian tribal rugs continue to be popular with both collectors and individuals wishing to decorate their homes. This lovely Qashqai rug is a fine example. The small format is ideal and would fit into many spaces and any kind of decorative scheme. The natural dyed colours are almost edible, dominated by a tomato red, lemon yellow and sapphire blue. The design is full of tribal charm. The field is centred by an intriguing central geometric medallion which appears to be floating above a stylised flowering tree. The rest of the field is filled with geometric ornaments, stylised animals and flowers. Note too the three main borders, filled with repeating borders and floral ornaments, which frame the composition perfectly. It's all so charming. All wool foundation and wool pile, the rug has survived in very good condition with a velvety even pile. The selvages are secured and the kilim ends are intact. Professionally cleaned.
