A finely painted 19th-century English School oil-on-canvas portrait after the original by Sir Thomas Lawrence. It is a particularly pleasing and well-executed painting in keeping with the character and style of the original.
 
The Portrait of Julia, Lady Peel is a portrait painted in 1827 by the English artist Sir Thomas Lawrence depicting Julia Peel, the wife of the politician Sir Robert Peel. She married Peel in 1820. When she sat for Lawrence, her husband was Home Secretary and later served twice as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (1834-1835, 1841-1846).
 
It was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 1827. The painting was sold by his grandson in 1896. It is now in the Frick Collection in New York.
