Description

Antique Waltham pocket watch, 1913.

The watch has a grade 825 17-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 18,933,775 which dates it back to 1913.

The watch measures 55mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel and it is in lovely condition. Screw-on bezel and back.

The watch has a glass lens to the front and back so that the movement can be viewed. Both lenses are in lovely condition.

The signed dial is in lovely condition, perhaps just a light scratch between 12 and 1 but it is faint, even with a jeweller’s loupe.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

Date of Manufacture

The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this Antique Waltham Pocket Watch to the 1910s.

Dealers Notes

ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (because of GPSR legislation, we no longer post items less than 100 years old to Europe, including Northern Ireland).

Please contact us regarding international shipping.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

The American Waltham Watch Company, operating from Massachusetts during the 19th and early 20th centuries, revolutionised horology by pioneering interchangeable parts and mass-producing high-precision pocket watches that gained international acclaim.

Timepieces from this era typically featured cases made from sterling silver, gold-plated base metals, or solid gold, paired with crisp white enamel dials and tempered steel hands.

Authenticity is verified by examining the movement serial number, which corresponds to specific production years, alongside maker hallmarks stamped on the inside of the case back.

A pocket watch can be displayed on a dedicated watch stand or incorporated into a tabletop vignette on a mantelpiece or desk, adding a layer of historic interest to the interior.

Mechanical timepieces should be wound gently at approximately the same time each day, kept away from moisture and strong magnetic fields, and serviced periodically by a professional horologist.
