Woven in the late 19th Century in Anatolia, western Turkey, these exquisite hand-woven carpets have been produced since the start of the Ottoman period (1300-1922).  The mid to late 19th century examples such as this became more open and decorative in design and were commissioned more for the Western market in the US and Europe and have since rivalled the look of the famous Ziegler carpets from Persia.  With a muted natural colour wool background colour and faded burnt oranges and sage green dyes, the palette on this antique Ushak carpet is traditional with a contemporary feel.In near perfect original condition, this Ushak has a dense wool pile all over.  Washed and ready to be used, supplied with our tough anti-slip underlay which aids the carpet considerably, stopping movement on any floor type.Our home visits are available nationwide, please contact us to make an appointment.  It can also be viewed at our barn showroom in Crondall, Surrey by appointment too.We have vario...
