Fine Early Georgian Welsh Oak Low Dresser

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Havard and Havard

A fine example of a mid 18th century oak low dresser of excellent colour and patina and appealing form. The native oak used throughout is dense and highly figured. The twin plank top has a broad undermould above three drawers to the boldly, ogee-arched frieze. All six legs are confidently turned combining baluster, ball and ringed collars. The twin plank potboard is joined by a plain, bold, base moulding.

Apart from retipping to the rear toes, the dresser is in entirely original condition including the brassware.

Welsh, probably Eastern Glamorganshire, circa 1750.
