Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Eighteenth-century Irish pewter chalices are ceremonial drinking vessels manufactured from a tin alloy containing small amounts of copper, lead, or antimony. Typically characterised by plain forms with stepped domed feet and central stem knops, these pieces reflected the aesthetic of contemporary church metalwork in Ireland.

Craftsmen cast antique pewter chalices in sections using brass or bronze moulds, forming the bowl, stem, and foot separately. The components were subsequently joined together using pewter solder and finished on a lathe to refine turnings and mouldings.

Authentic 18th-century pewter often displays maker touchmarks or regional hallmarks stamped near the rim or foot rim. Genuine age manifests as minor surface oxidation, slight asymmetrical wear on touchpoints, and a soft matte grey patina rather than a harsh polished mirror finish.

Place an antique pewter chalice on a dark wood sideboard, mantelpiece, or open bookshelf as a standalone sculptural object. Combining pewter with contrasting natural textures such as timber, linen, or marble highlights its understated grey metallic tone.

Clean antique pewter gently using warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth to remove dust. Avoid chemical polishes or abrasive pads, as these permanently remove historic oxidisation and the natural surface patina developed over centuries.
