Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This French Provincial king size bed frame dates from 1910 and takes inspiration from a French Chateau style. Constructed from oak with a bleached finish, the timber displays a pale golden tone. The structure incorporates a serpentine headboard and a shaped footboard, both detailed with carved scrollwork and floral cresting, alongside cabriole feet. The bedding consists of a patterned cover in shades of white and grey with dark grey banding. Newly fitted bed slats support the mattress area within the 213 cm deep, 156 cm wide frame. Positioned in a primary bedroom or a guest room, the bed frame serves as a central sleeping arrangement. The timber finish and traditional French carvings integrate into bedrooms featuring classic or neutral interior schemes. The dimensions accommodate standard king size mattresses while maintaining a manageable footprint against bedroom walls. The low footboard and open side rails preserve sightlines across the room while providing sturdy everyday support.

FAQs

French Louis XV style furniture is characterised by asymmetrical Rococo curves, delicate hand-carved floral motifs, serpentine crestings, and elegant cabriole legs.

Traditional French bedsteads are constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or beech, often finished with natural waxes, paint, or bleached treatments to highlight the timber grain.

Authentic French antique beds typically feature hand-carved details, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, original side-rail iron fittings, and natural aging or patination along the carved edges.

A bleached oak French bed pairs effectively with neutral linen bedding, plaster walls, and understated contemporary lighting to create a refined, relaxed aesthetic.

Maintain a bleached oak frame by dusting regularly with a dry cloth, avoiding harsh liquid cleaners, and occasionally applying a clear matte beeswax to protect the unsealed timber grain.
