Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
It is currently fitted with a smart linen loose cover that is in good condition. Under the cover it has been reupholstered with black and white ticking. The stuffing is all horse hair and the squab cushion is feather.
The back is removable (not sure why) and it has its original catches to secure it.
The frame is good and solid and the upholstery, ticking and loose cover are all in good condition.
It could be used as it is or it would be an easy job to have it covered in a fabric of your choice.
