Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Preserve antique oak by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, applying microcrystalline wax occasionally to nourish the wood, and avoiding silicone-based polishes.

An antique oak dresser provides grounding warmth in a modern setting; it can be used as a striking sideboard in an open-plan kitchen or paired with minimalist contemporary art and ceramics to create a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate tool marks, hand-beveled drawer linings, uniform timber shrinkage, period brass hardware or filled handle holes, and a deep patina developed through centuries of oxidation and use.

Georgian dressers were traditionally constructed from native hardwoods such as oak, elm, and fruitwood, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawers, pegged mortise and tenon framing, and hand-turned supports.

The Georgian period spans the reigns of the first four Georges from 1714 to 1830, characterised by a transition from heavier, oak-dominant construction to lighter, more refined mahogany pieces influenced by prominent designers like Chippendale and Sheraton.
