Description

A very fine Worcester porcelain sparrow beak milk jug of baluster shape with a grooved strap handle. Painted in the rare oriental inspired "Thunder & Lightning" pattern (also known as the "Flash" pattern), in iron red, puce pink, pale green and true black enamel with gilded accents. Double ringed border in red enamel above the foot and to the rim. c.1770.

Provenance: Klaber & Klaber.

It measures 8.9cm (3 1/2") high, 8cm (3 1/8") spout to handle and 6.5cm (2 1/2") wide.

In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration. The glaze has been worn off the very tip of the spout and some wear to the red enamel on the rim. Otherwise the enamel has minimal handling wear.
