FAQs

Regency furniture, dating roughly from 1811 to 1820, is characterised by classical proportions, inspired by ancient Greek and Roman designs, often featuring fine dark woods like mahogany and restrained decorative elements.

Authentic period pieces were predominantly crafted from solid timber veneers on secondary woods, utilizing dense imported timbers like mahogany, alongside brass hardware and hand-cut dovetail joints.

Authenticity is identified through construction methods such as hand-cut dovetailing on drawer boxes, circular saw marks, hand-turned wooden knobs or brass ring handles, and natural timber oxidisation beneath.

Pair the dark wood tones with minimalist modern decor, neutral walls, and contemporary abstract art to create a striking contrast between historical craftsmanship and modern design.

Maintain antique timber by avoiding direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity, cleaning gently with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying pure beeswax to nourish the wood finish.
