Description

This lovely and sun drenched view of a bay on the South of France depicts ancient mediterranean trees under an azure blue sky, with white sailboats on the water. It is a work by noted landscape artist André Beronneau (Bordeaux 1886–1973), who exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris.

Dating from the 1940s, the oil on canvas was painted in the traditional manner of the southern French artists - with a paint knife rather than with brushes - and is signed at the lower right. Measuring 35 x 41 cm, the overall framed size of the painting in a hand carved wooden frame is 46 x 54 cm.
