Painted by the Ecuadorian master Emilio Moncayo (1895-1970), the painting depicts the historic Plaza de San Sebastián in Quito, Ecuador. Moncayo’s use of impasto and a warm, sun-drenched palette makes the work a celebration of light, colour, architecture and human activity. Signed at the lower right and situated at the reverse, the oil on canvas measures 47 x 57 cm . The overall size in its original frame with minor wear and tear is 61 x 81cm
