FAQs

The George I period, spanning from 1714 to 1727, is characterised by a transition from heavy walnut designs to more refined, elegant proportions, often featuring intricateveneering and understated brass hardware.

These pieces typically utilized native oak or pine carcases covered in fine decorative veneers such as walnut, olive, or laburnum, secured with dovetail joints and hand-cast brasses.

Authentic oyster veneer features circular cross-sections cut from small branches, displaying natural growth rings arranged in geometric patterns, often accompanied by hand-cut dovetailing and period-correct secondary woods like oak.

Pairing historical timber furniture with minimalist modern surroundings creates a striking visual contrast, allowing the rich grain and patina to serve as a focal point in a living room or hallway.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying occasional microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood without damaging the delicate historical surface.
