FAQs

Early 20th-century landscape oil paintings typically reflect the influence of impressionism and plein air painting, focusing on natural light, atmospheric effects, and regional topography.

Artists during this period commonly used prepared wooden panels or composite boards as a stable support for oil pigments, often housed in heavy wooden or gesso frames.

Authentication involves examining the ageing of the oil paint, craquelure, backing materials, artist signatures, and frame construction consistent with historical production techniques.

An antique landscape painting adds depth and character when hung on a neutral wall, paired with minimalist contemporary furnishings to create a balanced contrast between old and new.

Preservation requires keeping the artwork out of direct sunlight, maintaining stable humidity and temperature levels, and dusting gently with a soft, dry brush without using liquid cleaners.
