Art Nouveau Plaque Of Nymph With Putti. Circa 1900

Large cold painted bronze wall plaque (or tray) of a nude in high relief with two putti both holding shells, by acclaimed French sculptor and medallist Firmin Pierre Lasserre (1870- 1943). Signed lower left.
 
40cm High.
 
LASSERRE, born at Barrante (Basses-Pyrénées) was a pupil of A. Millet and Albert Bréauté, he exhibited regularly at the Annual Paris Salon. In 1898, he exhibited: Medal of Marie Antoinette. 1903, 11 medals and plaquettes, comprising: Birth of Venus and Neptune and Amphitrite. 1904 medals and plaquettes, representing religious and mythological subjects. 1905 Vision of St. Anthony; St. Christopher and the Drunkenness of Pan. In later years exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes obtaining several medals including the gold in 1927. Later made a Knight of the Legion of Honor
